On January 2001, the "Shaarei Malka" Organization was founded by Meir Malka, due to the harsh economic situation in our country. One day, while Meir was on an organaized trip, he met a poor woman who told him that she is a widow with 8 children and that her economic situation is very bad. Meir felt sorry for this woman and started raising money in order to assist her and her family. From that day forward, Meir collects food supplies,baby food and diapers, personally, and delivers them with great caring to anyone seeking assistance. Unfortunately, there are too many people needing help from such charitable people. At present, "Shaarei Malka" has over 100 volunteers, doing all they can to collect food and money for over 1000 families that are supported by the organization. The families are referred to "Shaarei Malka" for assistance by the Welfare Services, as well as various public organizations and the municipality of Jerusalem , after being checked and having presented the proper documentation which indicates their economic status and that they are unable to support themselves or their small children.
